So, you’re keen to work together. What happens next? And what are the terms?

1. We’ll talk

I offer prospective clients a 30-minute, no-obligation consultation, free of charge. If you’re based within 30km of my office, I’ll come to your business premises to discuss your project requirements.

If you’re based outside of my Cape Town travelling circle, and you’re set on meeting me in person, I will invoice you for my additional travel costs, according to the AA’s rate per kilometre.

If we cannot meet in person, we can explore your project requirements over the phone, via Skype or by email.

This introductory chat is my chance to hammer out the details and scope of the work, so that I have a clear understanding of what you need. I ask a lot of questions because I want to know as much as possible about the topic, subject, product or service that I’ll be writing about. Please be patient with me. The more information I have, the better.

2. I’ll send you a quote

I’ll compile a cost estimate for the work we’ve discussed. This will be emailed to you, along with a job order form. If you’re happy to proceed, you’ll need to complete the job order form and pay a 50% non-refundable deposit. If not, no hard feelings.

Quotes are valid for 14 days and include one set of minor alterations.

3. I’ll do the work

The work will be sent to you, as per the deadline agreed. Minor alterations must be requested within one week of delivery of the work.

As a freelance writer, I enter into a business relationship with every client and it’s important to manage expectations on both sides. Please take the time to read my basic terms of service below. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Deposits and payments

A 50% non-refundable deposit is required on acceptance of my quote. Electronic proof of payment and a completed job order form must be returned to me to secure a project booking.

The balance of the payment is due upon completion of the project. Interest on overdue accounts will be charged at standard South African bank rates.

There is no cancellation fee if you terminate a booked project, but please remember that the initial 50% deposit is non-refundable.

Copyright

All work belongs to me until final payment has been received.

Terms of content usage

All content created for each individual job is for one-time use only. Additional use and/or publication may attract additional fees.
